Oak River Retreat Center is a non-profit, non-denominational, 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to serving Christian leaders world-wide. They are currently looking for land and funding to begin building the retreat center in the mountains of Colorado. They needed a brand strategy and website to assist in their fund-raising efforts. We focused on the name to direct our design efforts.
The director’s family name is Swedish. Ek-strand literally means “Oak Beach (or river bank).” But more than just a translation of the family name, Oak River symbolizes the beliefs underlying the retreat that are rooted in Scripture. We used an oak tree and winding river to create the mark and added rustic typography to mirror the rustic dwellings they will build. We used colors consistent with the outdoors and retreat center. Beside designing the logo and website we also created a brochure and Powerpoint presentation for fundraising efforts. The client was very happy with the results.
